The fabric of my faith walk reaches back across several generations. As the great-granddaughter of a Nebraska Mennonite pastor, one of my earliest memories is of sitting on my grandmother's lap with a simple salvation coloring book and inviting Jesus to wash my black heart clean with his red blood. Fast forward to my college years at Drake University in Des Moines, where my faith took wings and I discovered the joy of ministry by deciding to go on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (an inter-denominational college ministry) rather than use my newly completed Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and English in a classroom. It was also at Drake that I met my husband, Dennis.
Through the years God has nudged, molded, and prepared me for leadership here at Meredith Drive Reformed Church through positions of ministry and leadership outside and inside of the organized church. In 2003 I came on staff at Third Reformed Church in Pella, Iowa, as a Commissioned Pastor overseeing evangelism, pastoral care, and leadership development. In 2008 I was asked to assist Celebrate Church in Knoxville as they worked through a pastoral transition. By 2011 I knew God was calling me to serve the Church for the long haul and I answered God's call to seminary. During my time in seminary, I also served as a Marketplace Chaplain for Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella and worked with churches in transition.
I was approached in the summer of 2014 about the possibility of serving as the Interim Lead Pastor for Meredith Drive. Over the next several months I began to feel deeply called to MDRC's missional history, servant-hearted leaders and a vision for a people who would be the redemptive presence of Jesus to the places they were called. In 2015, we agreed I was called to be the permanent lead pastor.
In the midst of all that craziness, God has gifted Dennis and me with two children (Benjamin and Jessica) who are the center of our hearts. In my free moments I love cooking a good meal, coffee with a good friend, and quiet with a good story.

Growing up in Wisconsin, I dreamed of being the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. While I haven't completely given up on my dream, it would appear that I'm better suited for my role as the Meredith Drive Campus Pastor. I love the opportunity to preach and teach while building relationships within the congregation and the diverse Meredith Drive neighborhood. I enjoy staying active (most days, you'll find me on my lunch break at CrossFit Merle Hay) and spending time with my family. If you'd like to meet for a cup of coffee, or have any grilling tips I can use, I'd love to get together.

I grew up in the Waterloo area as one of six children. My wife, Kayla, and I met in high school and both attended Drake, where we were married after our freshman year. We lived in Des Moines for six years while I attended Drake and earned a Bachelors of Arts in Law, Politics, and Society, and then attended Drake Law School for a year before discerning a call to ministry. Kayla graduated from Drake with a journalism degree and worked for both the Des Moines Register and Meredith Corporation.
I completed a Masters of Christian Thought through Bethel Seminary and am a licensed pastor in the Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination, which is similar to a commissioned pastor in the RCA. I will soon begin the process pursuing ordination in the RCA. Before coming to The Bridge in June of 2017, I served as the associate pastor at Dover Avenue Alliance Church in Orange City, where my primary responsibilities included ministry to young families and college students, and oversight of student and children's ministries.
We have four children: Joseph, Asher, Eliza, and Abram.

As a young child I remember having passions for learning, leading, and Jesus. The church has always felt like home to me. Looking back on God’s path for me I am ever aware that he has continuously shaped me for the kingdom work I am doing today. I was a middle school teacher for five years before entering into full-time ministry. After pursuing a master’s degree in education, I went straight into my Master of Divinity degree. Yes… until my ordination in 2015 I was a graduate student for nine years!
I began working at Meredith Drive Reformed Church in January of 2015. I now provide pastoral leadership for our Weekday Preschool Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and Student Ministry at both The Bridge and Meredith Drive campuses. It’s an incredible privilege to partner with the gifted coordinators, directors, and volunteers of these ministries, who “make it happen” every single day! My hope is that discipleship in these areas at Meredith Drive and The Bridge will be biblically sound, culturally relevant, and relationally rooted for the next generation who will carry on the cause of Christ.
I am a lover of the hottest of hot sauces and trying to grow things in my garden. Three of my greatest treasures on the face of the planet are my husband, Corbett, and our two children Kathryn and Will.
YOUNG ADULT PASTOR

I grew up in Des Moines, and actually was raised at Meredith Drive Reformed Church. I did my undergraduate studies in Religion at Central College in Pella, IA, and received my Master of Divinity from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA. I am ordained in the Reformed Church in America.
I am passionate about pursuing ways to live out and communicate the good news of Jesus that resonate with younger generations. I love making music, reading, engaging in creativity through watercoloring and writing poetry, and having deep conversations over good coffee.
I am excited to see how God is calling the Church to innovate and get creative around its call to witness to the Kingdom of God at work in the world.
