Key Programming Decisions

  • Wednesdays will be dedicated to Student Ministry only. Sundays dedicated to Kids Ministry only.
  • No Wednesday night Kids Ministry or Sunday Student Ministry.
  • Pastor Jonny or newly hired Student Ministry director, will be leading the large group teaching time for 6th-12th grades virtually to begin the year.
  • 2020-21 Profession will be put on hold this year. We plan to implement a joint 8th and 9th-grade opportunity for the 2021-2022 year. If a student desires to profess their faith publicly before the 2021-2022 opportunity, we ask parents to contact us to discuss individualized opportunities.
  • At this time, we are not planning any additional Student Ministry events. Our hope is to focus on implementing a safe and solid option on Wednesday nights. MDRC staff is in conversation concerning large-scale events such as Trunk or Treat.
  • Social distancing and masks are required indoors for all students, leaders.
  • No food or game time will be offered at this time. We will continue to evaluate as the year goes on.

Considerations for Wednesday Night Alive

  • We are thinking through small group placements for students who participate fully online (Zoom into grade/gender-specific small group or host a virtual small-group for online students. We are hoping to create and provide the best possible atmosphere for online students based on numbers registered and group dynamics (genders, grades, etc.)
  • Pastor Jonny Craig will be stepping in for the main teaching each Wednesday to give continuity for students. When a new Student Ministry director is hired, we will create opportunities for the director, students, and leaders to build relationships.
  • We’ve worked to create robust online options that can be utilized by all students if need be. If closure of the church or specific ministry groups is warranted based on current government/health pandemic conditions, all Kids Ministry/Student ministry programming will default to our online options.

Volunteer for Student Ministry

Student Ministry coordinators are getting the final touches on all of their programming and activities to welcome students back to Wednesday Night Alive. We are in need of a few volunteers. Have you ever thought God was nudging you to help out? Student Ministry could be the perfect fit. We encourage you to give it a try. Guiding our students on Wednesday evenings for about an hour through the year is rewarding not just for them but also for our volunteers. Each year brings deeper growth and connection towards knowing God's love and guiding our students to deepening their faith in Jesus. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity or want to learn more about our Student Ministry program, please contact Pastor Bep Reeves
